FAQs

ARE online consultationS available?

Yes, I do offer online consults through several platforms such as Google Meets, Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

How many sessions will I require?

The number of sessions that you require varies according to your needs and medical condition, if any. A minimum of 4 sessions is recommended to see any long-lasting and sustainable results.

Do I need a referral letter to see you?

No, you do not need a referral letter to see a dietitian. If your insurance covers for dietitian/nutrition then you might need your GP to write a referral letter.

Do I need to do a nutrigenomics test?

A nutrigenomics test allows us to analyse how the food we eat influences our genes and vice-versa. With this test, I will be able to assess your nutrition and exercise needs from a more targeted perspective. You will still be able to improve your health and see results even if you don’t do the test.

What should I bring with me for our first consult

Here is what you can bring for our first consult:

  • A 3-day food, water, exercise and sleep diary

  • Recent health screening results

  • Referral letter (if any)

  • Medications and supplements that you are taking

  • Packaging of main snacks that you consume regularly or recently

  • Any other tests or information that you might find relevant for our discussion.

Do you see couples/families?

Yes, I do see couples or families. Every family member has different health and nutritional needs, which requires individual assessment and nutritional plan. Therefore, each person will be charged as one individual consultation.

I am planning to start a family; when should I come to see you?

To optimise your fertility potential and your partner’s fertility potential, it is recommended that you book a first consult 3-6 months before you plan to conceive.

ARE YOU A DIETITIAN OR NUTRITIONIST?

I am a Dietitian. I am an Accredited Dietitian of Singapore from the Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association.

What is the difference between a dietitian and nutritionist?

Dietitians are qualified to assess, diagnose & treat nutritional problems (e.g. diabetes, cancer, obesity, malnutrition, frailty) in specific patient populations with clinical care team.

Dietitians educate patients on the link between diet and health conditions seeking to empower individuals to make sustainable dietary and behavioural changes.

Dietitians have a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and have mandatory training that includes a structured internship at clinical community and food service settings. Dietitians are qualified nutritionists.

A nutritionist is qualified to promote health and nutrition in general healthy populations only and have a bachelor or master’s degree in human nutrition or with a major in nutrition studies.
